Handpicked and hand sorted into 1.5 and 2 ton open top stainless steel fermenters. The cap was punched down three times per day by hand. The wine was transferred to French oak barrels to complete fermentation.

19 months in French oak barrels. 50% New.
Tasting Notes
A compelling expression of Funk Estate Vineyard in The Rocks District, the 2023 Hunt & Gather opens with a deep ruby core and aromatics of black cherry, plum, and wild dark berries. Savory layers follow, like Kalamata olive, cured meat, tobacco leaf, and umami all framed by cedar, graphite, and subtle barrel spice. On the palate, this wine shows the vintage’s hallmark ripeness with restraint, plush dark fruit, espresso, dark chocolate and a firm, mineral spine. Velvety tannins provide structure, while lively acidity keeps the finish long, savory, and mouthwatering. Delicious alone or pair with charcuterie, grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, herb crusted elk loin, or a gourmet smash burger with aged cheddar.
